ヤママユ ―まゆを つくる むし―
―
森の宝石とも言われる、緑色のまゆをつくる蛾を数年にわたり飼育し観察した絵本作品の装丁。複数の成長過程を見開きに納めたり、まゆの糸の長さをグラフィカルに見せたりと、博物学やダイアグラムのような知的さを備えた内容から、表紙も硬質なものとした。画のもつ、まゆが輝く雰囲気を生かすために白地を生かしたデザインを心がけた。

Childrens’ book based on observations of silkmoth that makes green cocoon―described as forests’ jewelry―for years. This work contains intellectual expressions like depicting several time lines on one sheet or graphically showing length of cocoon thread. We intended to design this book academic. We used white background to emphasize the glow like cocoon.
